Dear halebopp, do you have some insight information? It seems to me that everything you say is based on your own assumptions.
No, it's just my own speculation. There was one guy on WRX with some "credible" information as a fitter but even he was already proved partially wrong when the MP-T7s were introduced. The other people on WRX who say there won't be new MPs this year have used arguments like "they won't release a new blade as no company will carry three different blades". The stupidity of such comments (sorry to put it that bluntly) simply eat away any credibility the "other side" has in my opinion.
I haven't heard anyone say they have first-hand, credible information there won't be any new MPs this year. I do prefer my own rationale over some random guy saying something without any cited sources online. On the other hand I've seen and heard of sets of H5s and 15s discounted in online stores as if they were coming to the end of their cycles. Of course they might just pull the sets from their offerings and not introduce replacements.
I'm not saying I know there will be new MPs, I would only find it very, very odd and disappointing if there weren't. Nor has there been any actual proof that would support any other view than Mizuno going on about its business as per usual and using the two-year cycle. So I'm sticking with that until I'm proven wrong rather than come straight out saying "they're breaking their old pattern this year".
Even from a business perspective it would not make any sense to me. The MP irons are Mizuno Golf's flagship products and going a year without a new release in that segment would most certainly make a dent in their sales and profits. There simply isn't any novelty value in the H5s and 15s anymore. If someone has found them interesting, the person most probably has already bought them already. Not many people are coming across them for the first time now and deciding s/he needs them.
That's not to say I'm thinking about getting the H5 4 iron and 5-PW of MP-4s.
