Re: ST180.?

I went to a Mizuno club fitting in California Saturday and the REP said he just got in the new ST180. I unwrapped and wow it is excellent. I have been trying Mizuno drivers for 10 years and this is by far the their best. It is more forgiving than a Baptist Minister's wife. The carry is long. My SS is 106. The ST seems neutral without a draw bias. The stock shafts are very light for this club so make sure you ask for the right shaft weight before you demo it. I was going to to buy the new sub zero but after hitting the ST I will probably switch. I need to see the spin rates though with something other than range balls. I hit the fairway 3 wood and also had impressive results

Re: ST180.?

Mizuno trailing on Twitter and Instagram for Feb 18 release today, so looks like the standard new year release for EU as well. (unless their social media add targeting is wrong)

Re: ST180.?

Feb is right for EU.  Haven't hit the ST myself this time.  But R&D guys seem very excited about it.   Not exactly the driver people might expect it to be.  It's absolutely NOT a new EZ.  It's a very low spin head that's forgiving.....so doesn't really replace anything.  I did watch a very high speed, high spin player test a proto back in May and it was spinning down at 2,000rpm.  We'll see if that follows through with the tour players - too much spin has been holding us back the last couple of seasons.

Flat out Further......comes from the flat, low spin flight.  Also has a face material upgrade.

I'll be happy to be the token American amateur tester if you need me. Just call any time, day or night... :)

I'm not sure what it is about the looks of this driver, at least from the pictures I've seen so far, but I really like the looks of it. There's just something that looks right about it.

So I don't get it ... this is replacing the JPX900 driver? Or it will be sold in parallel with the 900?

It will be interesting to see what makes it more forgiving, slightly bigger head than the 900 perhaps?

I do like the look of this new driver. The 850 is still doing the business but just fancy a new shinny one!!!

If I'm not mistaken, based on the pictures I've seen, this is head loft adjustable, but I don't see any bias weights init. Is that correct?

No weights.  Everything pushed low and towards the front....not possible if there's too many tracks etc.

Not an EZ replacement in anyway - totally different type of driver.  Very low spin.

To make things more confusing... I went online to see what info I could find on the ST-180 and found this from August on the GT-180. The shapes look similar but the GT-180 has weights more like the JPX-900. The article mentions that it doesn't know much about the club or even it's intended geography... basically just some spy photos.

What about the weight at the back MPX, will there be different options at all?

Also, going off topic slightly, what was the reasoning behind dropping the Speeder Evolution shafts from the line up?
