I started last season as 12.9 and went up to 13.2 before I finished the season as a 11.1, which was a new record for me. Our club did their Annual Handicap Review today and my handicap dropped by one more stroke to 10.1 as I had suspected. The median of the scores I returned last year was 34 Stableford points, 29-33 would've kept it where it was.
What makes it funny is that I've never broken 80. My career best is 81 which I've shot several times, including a couple of times on a par 73. The easier course at my club is a par 71 and now I get 10 strokes from the regular men's tees. Thus I'd now need to tie my personal best to play to a net 0 stroke play score.
So how low/high was your handicap when you broke 80 for the first time? It might be fun to get to single digits without breaking 80.
