My current irons are MX-25's w/ PX 6.5 +3/4 standard lie built by Mizuno. I was on the shaft optimizer at my local club and it came back with PX 6.0/DG x-100 soft-stepped/KBS X soft stepped and the rep suggested +1/2 for length.

Since they are +3/4 length I understand that a differenct weighted head was used at the factory to get the proper swingweight. I am assuming that if I reshaft them and only go +1/2 I will be creating a swingweight nightmare, correct?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

IIRC, Mizuno use a lighter head for 1/2" or more extension to keep swingweight down. You might find that the head weight used for 1/2 and 3/4" is the same.

But will a 1/4" reduction really make a difference?

The optimiser is not meant to be an infallible diagnosis, more a starting point to decide on a shaft based on feel, flight and so on. I chose the one which came up 3rd on my optimiser run.

Unless you are hitting them badly, I am not sure I would change.
