Looking on the Japanese site this morning and came across a page on how Mizuno measure clubs and while they conform to the std methods for most they differ on club length and face progression.
Google Translate
"
Mizuno's spec measurement method

Apply the sole to the plate set to the design lie angle, and set the heel end at the point of 3/8 inch from the base point of the plate. The distance between the “set heel end” and the “grip cap line” is the club length. * Putters are up to the grip end. "

If Cumbernauld do it this way the idea of them measuring length without a grip will have to go out of the window.

Mizuno made their clubs 1/4 inch shorter than the other manufacturers up to the release of the MP18. From that point on they increased their lengths by 1/4 inch so that there is a standard length across the board.

If you ordered without knowing this, your fitter should have notified you of this before order is taken.

If the official mizuno website says 7 iron 37” and I order them 1/4 long I’d expect my irons to be 37.25”. I’m getting rid of these as I don’t know which weight heads they are.

Getting rid is an option obviously - Have you asked your supplier and/or Mizuno to correct the error in the shaft length for you?

Those are from Japanese market, be standard head weight, don`t use B head until 1" / 2" longer, Also Mizuno lengths are without the grip

Mizuno worldwide changed their shaft lengths from the MP18 onwards. This would apply to all clubs regardless adding 1/4 inch on a standard. If the OP hadn't had any new clubs after the MP18 or was unawares of the change and just ordered straight off the bat with the extra length without being told by the retailer of the change then you are getting clubs 1/2 inch longer than before.

So I measured and mine were 1/2 longer than taylormades and 1/4 longer than the mizzies on the rack.

So they really need to either state how they measure on their website or just do it like everyone else

Guys - i'm not an expert in club fitting. But we often have to remind people that there is NO INDUSTRY STANDARD on anything. You must be fitted for the brand you buy before you buy it. Don't guess, hope, estimate - there's no need. We have hundreds of Fitting carts and test locations out there so you can hit before you buy. Please don't buy blind.

Some good advice on the site on the FAQs. Having said that will ask the factory to confirm how we measure length.

Mizuno 7 iron upto the MP18 inclusive was a 36.75 inch shaft length. Since then, they have changed to the 37 inch shaft length that is used by the other manufacturers. Chris Voshall mentioned it in the JPX919 interviews.
How Mizuno measure it might be different but there is now an ‘Industry standard’ because all irons as a standard have the same length of shaft across manufactures.

Just spoken to the Scotland factory and we do measure the same way as Japan.

But advice is still the same. Go for a fitting. Get a recommendation from the fitting system and you don't need to know how we measure - the system will advice the right length shaft. Whether that's 1/2 longer than the old standard, or 1/4 longer than the new - doesn't really matter. Try before you buy - that's why we've invested in over 500 fitting locations.

Bizarre.
I’ve got the tours now so they are 1/4 longer than every other manufacturer.
Will just take the hit and remember to add 3/8ths on to what it says on the website next time

No. The shaft as standard is now the same as every other manufacturer for (e.g 37inch for a 7i and then 1/4 inch increments up down per iron). If you have requested an increase then yes it is longer.
Don’t worry about the 3/8ths, if you look at the measurement graphic it is misleading. They are actually in total the same length. It’s just worked out different is my take.

I measured against TM p770, titleist t100, off the rack 921 tours and my custom 1/4 long mizunos.
it went 37, 37, 37.25, 37.5
so mizuno is longer than other oems by 1/4 even though their websites say they are all 37 inch 7 irons.

Club lengths from 3 iron to 9 iron in 1/2" incriments. then 1/4 from pw. - gw.
As a club builder I check all specs before I build and remove the old or when I ft a new shaft,
Just recently I removed and fitted a set of Steelfibre shafts in a set of MP20 forged blades at 1/2" incriments,
