Aye.. we come a long way ... but ma dad was poorer than your dad etc etc..
Anyway please bear with me....
Firstly I think that all of the technology and fitting etc is brilliant now... as a kid I played with clubs with the wrong shafts, the lofts and lies were all wrong.
Matching set??? Ah had all different bloody makes of irons ... had to use a bloody set of 4 x 1 irons with old drain pipes as shafts. Had to bloody bend the shafts over a anvil to get any loft on them😆😆😆 You try telling that to kids nowadays!!!
Dad told me - son you wont get anywhere in this game with lah dee dah clubs... Had to use an old frying pan on a stick as a Driver..
Anyway...
Big fan of fitting but... ultimately it is what FEELS right.
The pros have fiddled about with loft, lies, shafts, lead tape on every bit and position on the club since the days of Young Tommy and Bobby Jones. Nothing is new it is just done properly for the average golfer now.
So great for fitting, but it is all feel at the end of the day.
