I agree completely. Considering the players are given bags, balls, uniforms, lodging and meals, (including bringing in wives and families), not to mention there's usually no tournament any of them would care to show up for that weekend, why should they be paid? I never agreed with that from the beginning. IMHO, simply being on the Ryder Cup team is worth a hell of a lot of money, because it probably brings them much more notice by possible endorsement companies.

Personally, I think the Euros work harder at being a team. Coming together from different countries simply forces that effort on them, much more than American players coming from the 50 states. It's just not the same.

I agree. It's about leadership, preparation and paying attention to all the little details ahead of 'go time'. Europe are excellent at this, and think long-term in my view.

US seems to be more cup to cup and like 'lets try something different' oh ok didn't work move on which is more a bouncing effect and can work if 12 guy all light it up at the same time.

But Europe is looking at the data points, the set up and its all about improvement each event, little 1,2,3% improvements which just keep strengthening the team.

Having said that, amazing effort on singles day, but with 8 games going down 18 I think the result flattered US a little - felt more like a 18-10 kind of performance overall..

Already looking forward to Ireland, having been to many sporting events (including a RC) it genuinely increases my love of this sport each time...

There was a lot of interest in how Paul Azinger ran things, what he called the "POD Strategy". Lots of players complimented the thought he put into that, but I'm not aware any Captain since has done anything similar, or maybe I should say, if he has, it hasn't made the news.
