Hi everyone. I'm a new mizuno player having recently purchased an old set of MP62s. I can't wait to get them out on the course, but wanted to ask a question about club faces.

There's a little rust which I'm not too bothered about as I'm going to try and remove, but there's what almost looks like soldering or warping. It might be normal but being new to forged clubs I thought I'd check with some experts?

You will need to post pictures or possibly no one will reply.

A little rust is easy to sort, but as LOS says, without pics or some more information, this other damage is impossible to comment on?

Apologies thought I'd added photos originally but the file size was too large!

Cant say I've ever seen anything like that on the faces of any Mizuno forged irons before..! I'ts hard to tell but it looks very like small metal shavings that are stuck to the faces..!

do all the irons have this on the faces or is it only some of them..?

do you have any more photos that show different views of the heads

Sure see below. It's almost like the paint has raised. I played with them the other day and didn't seem to affect performance.

My initial thoughts are that someone has used a very sharp tool to clean the grooves and then used a poor quality cleaner to try and clean the chrome.

Think how old they are..... no matter how well looked after.

They are 12 years old. Of course they will have groove damage and paint flaking. Send them to a club refurbishment specialist if you want them to be like new.

I think LOS has hit the proverbial nail here - Looks like someone has tried to clean them up with a wire brush or something & possibly one of those groove tools
As Brattz said you could get them refurbished, though not a cheap process? - Maybe speak to one of the places that does cerakote (see pic)?

Thanks everyone. To be honest I haven't bought these for my forever clubs, but to almost force me to improve my iron striking.

I have to say having taken them out a couple of times they feel gorgeous. In was concerned it would feel like starting golf again but if anything they feel more forgivingb through their consistency. My old ping g2s had regular flex shafts and the odd flyer in them, but these feel so good and the feedback is just next level.

I can't see myself moving away from forged mizunos now tbh
