Has anyone else been clicking these with a slight sense of morbid curiosity
I’m eagerly awaiting the next instalment.
Hey, while waiting for the set ordered, we could share a few gems from the “you shall get fitted” frontlines?
Major golf franchise here in Germany. Me coming in for a fitting by appointment.
Friendly sales guy.
His static fitting: “how tall are you?” done. no wrist to floor measuring or such.
Me asking “how do we start. Shall we do a few swings with the Mizuno SwingDNA device?”
Fitter: ”no, I usually don’t like the shafts it suggests. Strange device.”
...
Me: “I heard good things about the Nippon 120. can I try it?”
Fitter: “almost nobody can play that shaft, very heavy, and stiffy”
...
Me (after hitting a few shots on their trackman sim): “I think the dispersion is better with this one, compared to the 105. Do you see that also?”
Fitter: “dispersion? most people are looking for the distance.”
Me: “this shaft feels great.” (modus 120)
Fitter: “very strange, you hit it faster than the 105. very strange.”
Me: “is this the heavier or the lighter head?”
Fitter: “what do you mean? what lighter head?”
Me: “afaik Mizuno makes also lighter heads for longer clubs, for keeping the SW within range.”
Fitter, laughing, turns to colleague in other bay: “Mizuno makes also lighter heads, have you ever heard?”
(colleague tells him he heard about it at a Mizuno seminar)
...
etc. etc.
You pay for their fitting... (if you buy the clubs, it’s credit toward the purchase.)
Getting a set of Mizuno irons is a bit like the fairy tale of the sleeping beauty.
You have to be a fearless warrior, fighting your way through many obstacles and thorny bushes, in order to find the sleeping beauty in the end.
How is the state of the art of club fitting in your neck of the woods?
