I went for a fitting the other day. I currently play the MP-64s, with the 7-iron having 34deg loft and the 6-iron 30deg.

The irons I tested have a 7-iron with 30deg loft.

Surely when checking to see if I've gained any distance I should be comparing my current 6-iron against the new 7-iron as they have the same 30deg loft?

The fitter said this wasn't the case due to the CG being moved back in new clubs etc.

I hit the new 7-iron approx the same distance as my current 6-iron. Dispersion was better and mishits with the new iron certainly went further but if I'm primarily looking to gain distance I don't think I've achieved this.

Any thoughts from those more experienced with the fitting process would be welcome.

It just confuses me I just want to see how far my 7 iron and pitching wedge go then to compare.

What was the launch angles and spin like, were they comparable?
My MP-64 7-iron and the 925 Forged 7-iron were both launching in the 18-22deg window. Spin was similar around 5k with 64s and a little less with 925s.
