Nice! - Remind me of the 'old days' when Pros like Seve used Mizuno, but to avoid upsetting his sponsors, just had heads with the iron number on them
My first set of Mizuno irons were like that, as I was friendly with the people who used to build clubs for all the Pros who wanted Mizuno ...

Never having played irons with a copper underlay does it actually make any difference? Does it produce a softer sound to imply a softer strike?

I suspect some of the earlier pictures were from the new " Mizuno Pro " series which have also appeared on the conforming club list.

I wonder if they offer a discount when ordering three sets of irons. I wasn't the biggest fan of the 18s but these... I want them all!

Mizuno Japan released info about their new "Mizuno Pro Irons" today. https://www.mizuno.jp/golf/mizunopro.aspx

In the 120 section

Google translate gives :-
"
Copper underplating is very soft plating, so it is not suitable for outermost layer plating, and is used as plating as a pretreatment.
Mizuno Pro also uses copper plating for pretreatment.
Although there is a slight difference, the feel of the ball becomes soft and the contact time of the ball on the face is felt longer than usual.
(Since there are individual differences, I cannot say it in general.) "

I hope I can get them up to 4° weak in Loft. I don't know if Mizuno is willing to bend them that much for me though. I think 2° is fairly standard for them, but I would like at least 3.
I love how the Japanese Website gives out really detailed information. If you know at least a little japanese, or use google translator, there is a lot of interesting Marketing to be read there.
