I have always enjoyed owning more than one set of clubs and changing sets, just for the fun of it. It started many years ago when i traveled a lot more and my clubs were severely damaged by American Airlines. I decided at that point to put together an inexpensive set of older clubs for travel.

That evolved into having 3 different types of sets, normal graduated length irons, one length irons and a set of all hybrid irons. The Cobra one length set is my current travel set. That grew to having more than one set of whichever, like a set of internet direct to player set with giant soles on them.

In the more recent times, I'm finding my Cleveland all hybrid set sitting around not being used. My old Callaway Rogue iron set isn't being used. My JPX900 Hot Metals aren't being used much. The XXIO set is a quandry, perfectly fitted for me, but i don't seem to use it.

I seem to be grabbing my PRGR irons or the Cobra one length irons most of all, so I think I'm going to sell the rest.

Does anyone else have multiple sets or am I the only one crazy enough to do this?

You're married, huh?

I guess I'm lucky, because my occupation as listed on my marriage certificate was listed as "Golf Professional" at that point in my life, so poor Rosalie understood what she needed to put up with for life.

Yeah mine said the same thing at one time, I have thinned out my sets over the years, but still hold a few that mean something

I could equip three players with a full bag of 14 clubs and the bag. :)

Earlier this year I decided that three sets of irons are too many, so I sold the MP-15s but fast forward a couple of months and I was back to three with the MP-20 HMBs. Maybe I'll need to sell the 53s next. But there are woods and wedges that are perfectly usable but practically worthless so there's no reason to sell them. And one thing I've learned is that you shouldn't sell something that has served you well in the past. :)

In the past week, I've sold off my Callaway Rogues and my Cleveland Launcher HB iron sets.

Right now, I still have my Cobra One Length F8 irons and a set of internet direct to player set made by AGX, an iron set with very large soles. They are actually a good feeling set.

I still have a mental thing about wanting to own a set of Mizuno irons and I'm always looking out for some.

I also have a set of PRGR irons coming that I couldn't resist. They should be here by next week.

Four sets that are all 'in play' in some fashion. A set of MPH5's are in locker at the club that I work part time at here down south. A set of MP5's that were 'hand me ups' from my son and regularly accompany me to the range, par three courses etc. My current 'gamers' are a recent acquisition, Pro 245's combo with JPX HMP. In a moment of irrational economic madness, I also have a set of Srixon ZX5 Mk1 which I bought brand new for silly money just as the MK11 came out. They're in a bag in Scotland being used a good few times a year when I'm up there. Across the three 'full sets', I have three drivers, a variety of wedges, a selection of fairways and rescues, all of which are Mizuno. I have three Odyssey Mini Ice 'T" putters as the only non Mizuno items. I can't bring myself to part with stuff, apart from a set of JPX 850 forged (my intro to Mizuno) which I gave to a junior starting out.

Hendo - Thanks, you just made me feel good to know there's someone with more sets than me. I envy your MP-H5 irons. I loved mine, but between age and surgery, outgrew the stiff steel shafts. I've never been able to find a set to replace them. It's almost as if there were never made with senior flex graphite and I honestly don't think I've ever seen a set with them. I could be seriously tempted to buy a set and change the shafts to suit me, just because I loved that iron som much.

The golfing gods took pity on me and felt my envy over Hendo's MP-H5 irons. I just saw a set of 5-PW with regular flex graphite shafts in good condition for $236 on eBay. I bought them. I'll likely change the shafts to senior flex, but what a coincidence.

Hursty hasn't been on here for years, in terms of posting at least - Not many of the other "oldies" either sadly ... :(

The MP-H5 irons arrive today. I'll hit balls into my net, using the launch monitors, then decide how much distance I lose with the regular flex and see if it's worth changing to senior flex shafts.

This has made me smile. A good few years ago, I was on a visit to NY city and I took my son to the range at Chelsea Piers. There was a MP5 demo with DG ST300 shaft and I tried to hit it and failed miserably. So lesson learned at the time '"never buy theses cos you aint good enough". Fast forward about six years and I find a set NOS on eBay for £300 6-PW with project X 5.0, which was perfect for my son at the time. He grows a foot and a half in a year and a half and we get him fitted in something else and I cant part with them. I take them to the range and I discover how good these are (not every shot though) Lesson number two was "get something like the right shaft and you can pretty much hit any head you like" They remind me how inconsistent I am, and periodically reward me with with aural 😀

That is EXACTLY my contention, that when we reach a certain age, or maybe I should say a certain slower swing speed, the shaft is more help than any modern tech a club head could offer. When it comes to irons, If nothing else, one thing I learned from members of this forum is, the shaft is the engine of the club. Long before my ego would have allowed me otherwise, I went to senior flex shafts at the advice of friends in this forum and it made a nearly immediate difference.

I have never disposed of any Mizuno irons, hence my complete sets of MP60, MP67 (one set at home, one in my Florida home), MP68, and complete set of MPT11 wedges, are still around and regularly in play.

It is a vacation home, in Holmes Beach (currently being renovated due to Hurricane Helene)

Just as an update, I got the MP-H5 irons and have put senior flex shafts in them. I've only hit them into my net so far and they feel good. I'll probably play Wednesday and/or Friday and actually use them on the course for the first time.

I also traded the Cobra F8 One Length set for a set of Cobra F-Max Superlite irons. From a feel standpoint, I'm pretty impressed with that set.

I'll probably take the PRGR set to Planet Golf, a local mom and pop store. They'll sell them on consignment and send me the check. The brothers who own it both play Epons, so they appreciate good Japanese clubs.

The question in my mind is, what to do with the AGX set. I have 4-SW and they are really a good feeling set, with slightly storing lofts that help me these days. They weren't expensive to buy new and they probably aren't worth much used, even in like new condition as they are. I guess it won't hurt to just keep them, or maybe use them as my traveling set.
