I admit to not being in very good physical condition. On a nearly weekly basis, I get some ad for a golf related stretching or exercise program in my email. They all cost varied amounts of money and make promises that, at face value, often appear too good to be true.

Do any of you use one of these golf related exercise or stretching apps and what do you think of it?

I'm not talking about recovering my once professional game, but I'd like to wake up the morning after I play and not feel sore.

Your thoughts?

Thanks

Hi Dennis ... I can't vouch for or shed any light on the exercises you mention, but with the various medical & physical issues you have mentioned previously, I would urge you to see a physiotherapist rather than "try" any random exercises in an email? - You need exercises that are tailored for you imho, not a pick & mix from exercises that "should" help golfers?
I can certainly vouch for the physio approach - Having had back issues for most of my adult life (I'm 68 now) in Sept last year I developed pain in my left hip - I presumed this was a flare up linked to the lower back pain I have had on & off for as long as I can remember - I was wrong! - It was a muscle strain in my hip & not connected to my back pain - I showed the physio the exercises I did daily for my lower back - She gave me several other exercises to add to those, including some using stretchy bands - When the hip pain subsided, I was only allowed to play a maximum of 9 holes golf for nearly 6 months (luckily during the UK winter when golf is curtailed due to our crap weather!) - It took about 9 months to get my hip virtually pain free, but for the whole time, I didn't have any back pain? - It appears that the extra exercises I was given for my hip actually helped strengthen my back? - In the last month I have been able to play golf without wearing a back support / brace, which I have had to wear for about 30 years! - I am waiting to see a Doctor at the Pain Clinic to discuss the medication regime I have been on for the last 5 or so years - Optimistically, as I no longer have pain in my back or hip, I should be able to scale down the medication, or stop taking it completely?
I don't know if any of that helps & sorry to waffle on!

Hey guys,

My Orthopedist has become a good friend over the years. It turns out, he's my wife's cousin's next door neighbor. When I talk to him, he's recommended stretches related to alleviating the pain from my shoulder bone spurs and my forward head posture.

I'm looking at a series of stretches on the web called Dynamic Golfer. They came highly recommended and my Orthopedist, after looking at the video, said hedidn't see anything that would harm me.
