So I'm getting new irons and have been on the DNA analyzer twice.  I have everything decided except for shafts.  I'm having a really hard time deciding here.  I'm not really able to get any analytical data off of simulators, so I've mostly been taking some shafts to the range.  Right now, I'm having trouble discerning which shaft is better.  Right now, I'm swinging some stiff shafts in an older TM Burner 2.0 set.  I believe their weight is 95g.  So I'm finding some of the shafts a little heavy right now.

I tend to hit the ball high, and the shafts I"m trying out now tend to have the same results (high ball ball flight, good distance).  Just having trouble deciding which is the best.

The irons I'm looking at are JPX 850 Forged and my HCP is 10.

Here's my DNA numbers:
84  4   4   4   5

Could someone remind me what my recommended shafts would be again, or point me in a direction where I could punch in my numbers?
Hi Bloom and welcome to the forum. Sorry for the late answer but I have only just seen this.....

The DNA figures give the following...

Steel shafts
Dynamic Gold XP S300  (130gram)
Project X 5.5  (115gram)
KBS Stiff  (120gram)

Graphite shaft
Orochi Tour Spec Stiff  (90gram)

Dont be a stranger let us know how you get on.....

Thats the trouble with the software, my figures throw out regular flexes but as you've seen my backswing is none existent resulting in the whippy feeling i get when the shafts are too soft. :)

Pete, your putter swing isnt as accurate as my driver swing!

I checked my swing DNA today at a demo day and the recommended shafts surprised me quite a lot. the numbers were 91, 4, 4, 6, 8. The first shaft recommendation was KBS Tour X-Stiff soft stepped and N.S. Pro 1150 GH Stiff, hard stepped.
I had a chance to go to a demo day again today and I got the exact same results. 91, 4, 4, 6, 8. It's nice to know there's some consistency in the swing. The lie board put me to 3 degrees up and ½" long.

The problem is though, I'm not sure I got that much better results with the H5 with KBS X stiff than with my 57s with Rifle 5.5s. Of course the 6 iron was the only one with that shaft, otherwise I had to hit the C Taper Lite stiffs in 1, 3, 8 and P.

Maybe the high launch would manifest itself better off the grass (mat range) and when you're not hitting iron after iron.

I am looking at either the JPX-EZ or JPX-850 and wondering which graphite shaft might match up with these numbers

Just wondering if someone could recommend a graphite shaft for either the JPX-EZ or JPX-850?

Does anyone know what kind of numbers would the old Royal Precision Rifle 5.5s fall into?

I took an MP-H5 6 iron with KBS tour stiff, 2 up and +½" to the course today and it just didn't perform as well as my MP-57 6 iron with standard length/lie 5.5. They stayed on line much better. I wonder how much is due to the shaft and how much is due to the different lie.

The KBS Tour seemed worse hitting into the wind also, seemed to spin more sideways at least, I wonder if that would change with a shift from S to X (which I was fitted into) but the X shaft isn't available for testing on course (neither is standard KBS Tour stiff)..

I forgot my shaft recommendations.  My numbers were 74,7,2,1,3.  Can anybody tell me what shafts are recommended?  I am more interested in graphite, given various aches and pains.

Hi,

Can anybody run my numbers to the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer software please? My numbers were :

80mph, 5 5 4 8

In relation to my numbers, can anybody recommend good driver shafts that is suitable for my swing? Preferably from GD Tour AD series. I am wondering if Tour AD MJ 6 SR (61 grams) would be suitable for me or not.

Cheers,
Henry
