Damnit. Just shot 81, so close to my goal, but shot the last 4 holes in +3. Just too many mistakes. Wanted it too badly. Better Luck next time!

Not quite in Brattz league, but I did have a decent round (Army GC) for the first time since lockdown
I was 1 over at turn including a tap in birdie on Par 3 8th - Started to unravel a bit on the back 9 & was
4 over with 4 to play - Then birdied 15th (7 iron to 4') - Birdied 16th after chipping in from about 20y
Birdied Par 3 17th with 20' putt - Sadly I dropped a shot on 18th after airmailing the green (flier) but
very pleased with 2 over which is my best round (only taken me a year!)

Funnily enough I am seeing my club maker pal on Sunday & plan to get them done then (unless he convinces me otherwise!)
Actually while I think of it ... The -1* GW / -1.5* SW / -2* LW ... is that affected by whatever my iron set has it's lies set on? - I have my iron set +1* so would I adjust the wedges to Standard GW / -.5* SW / -1* LW or is that not how it works? - The LW 3* flatter than my iron set sounds a bit extreme?
Cheers
Paul

Yes, adjusted to your irons, so GW would be standard. Make sure you try them on a lie board to make sure the sole strike is right. Always got on a lie board with your most common shot. So your LW would be how you play a pitch shot 👍🏽

After a week and a half of not touching the clubs, we got out today and I shot 84 for 36 points. 1 birdie, 10 pars and the worst one was a quad.

Having worked as a rules official in our national match play championships this week, I felt like I could transfer some of the calmness in their swings to my own game. Not trying to do too much in the backswing and getting the tempo right. After getting rid of the rust, I went on to hit some of my best iron shots of the season on the back 9 and played the last 6 holes to even par.

I can't wait to get out there again but it seems like it'll be pouring cats and dogs until Thursday.

Not great. Played at Cottesmore (near Crawley/Gatwick). Lovely the course but the wind was relentless. Grossed 98 overall (26 pts off of 16 HCP). Unable to play next weekend so now wondering where in the week I can squeeze in my next golfing fix (to put right the wrongs of today)

Had my first game today after getting the lies adjusted on my irons & wedges - Have to say I hit some great pitches, especially with my 54* - Interesting, that when I asked my man about doing these "Tour Lofts" on the wedges, he said that he always has his done this & recommends doing it this way to all his regulars... Being hypercritical, 5 of those missed fairways were in the first cut, 2-3ft off the fairway.
Missed 2 of the Par 3s in reg, On 6th I went pin hunting and stuck it flag high just right of green short sided. 12th was playing 237yds today, Hit 3 hybrid stick high and just left of green.
Long game was LOOOOONNG today, averaged 293yds with driver today, made it much easier hitting wedges into some par 4s. Not a short course at 6,800 so the ball striking helped no end.

So I played wednesday in cold rainy and windy conditions (cold is relative obviously, but 12° certainly didn't feel all that warm). The course setup was quite difficult and I managed another 81. I was certainly happy about that because in these conditions it was definitely a very good round. But today I hit the course again. It was quite windy again, but it was beautiful and sunny and warm and, well...need I say more? 78 - 100720.jpg

Well done! - I think you mentioned on an earlier post that you just missed your goal with an 81, so hopefully this nice 78 achieved that goal? - Always great when you achieve something like that ... Paul

Yes, I did achieve it! Thank you! I mentioned it somewhere on the previous page that my goal for this year was to break 80 again after health issues really made me struggle last year, but I am now recovering and now that I've broken 80 again I am extremely happy! Next goal has to be 75, but I'm going to be looking at this much more relaxed. It would be nice to get there, but if not all is well. :)

The game is travelling well. Went to Greetham Valley in the Rutland countryside today. Lovely course with some seriously challenging holes. At 6,800yds it’s not short either!!!

Some silly mistakes on the bogey holes but other than that, spot on.

Shot a +8 80 today. Was Driving the ball beautifully, even though I didn't hit many fairways, I was never more than a couple of meters of the fairway and decent distance as well. I didn't quite get the round started well though, as I was +7 thru 7 holes and then shot the last 11 holes in +1 with 8 straight pars, then 1 bogey and another 2 decent pars. Struggling a bit with striking the irons pure today, most of them a bit on the thin side just pushing them to the right, but chipping and putting was beautiful so managed to get it up and down a lot. So I know what I have to work on, strike those irons a bit better, a better decending blow and that should make going round in a decent number a bit easier again.

So, second round back after a 4 year absence and I shoot a 5-over gross, 76. WHAT?

3-under after 8 and the had two bad holes where I had to hit 3 off the tee.

So, overall. I'm delighted with that!
