Played my third round this morning was a bit over cast with a strong gusty wind ..!

Played OK but my driving accuracy was way off resulting in five missed fairways..!, thankfully my iron play and putting didn't desert me so I managed to finish with a score of 88 gross for a nett 69 and 36 points so not to bad..!

Hi John ... I wouldn't beat yourself up after scoring "only" 36pts! - I played today in a similar gusty wind & it was hard work - Two of the Par 5's summed up the difficulties faced - 3rd hole which is SI1 just over 500y - I hit driver 3 wood 5 wood & was on the back edge - 9th hole just under 500y I hit driver 9 iron! - How people play in these sort of conditions all the time (links golfers) is a mystery to me? - It would do my head in! - I'm not too worried how my game is at the minute, it's just great to get out at last...

74(+2) this morning in the monsoon. I’m itching to get going on the regional order of merit, 1st event beginning of July.

Had my first double bogey since we started playing again today, pushed tee shot, buried in rough, hack out rubbish approach 😩. Still the work put in over winter in the gym and on the range combined with the lockdown short game tune up has got my game in a very good place.

Not touting non Mizuno product but the TS3 driver is phenomenal.

Good round. Its all about scoring at present and the putter. With so much run on the fairways guys off higher handicaps can make par 5s in two and get a shot on the hole too. Saw RND had 50 points winning one of their mens comes the other week Id have had to shoot 60 to come close.

I'd borrow a pistol from the bandit who shot 50 & shoot him! :p
I was reminded yesterday from junior golf of an 84 gross off 31 handicap and 53 points as a junior!!!

I’ve actually played golf again recently.
Three rounds. I scored the last two at 91 and 95. Considering hardly playing for 3 years, mostly new (to me) clubs, trying out lots of no swing thoughts and previously having chipping yips, I was quite happy with that.
I may even be getting the bug back again...

Played an other couple of games this week one on Monday and the other today recorded identical scores for both games finishing with
88 gross 69 nett and 36 points..!,was happy enough overall with my game I was driving the ball well and hit all but three fairways over
the 36 holes, did have a bit of a disaster at the 188 yard par 3 16th hole today when I hooked my tee shot in to deep rough and had to take
a penalty drop and eventually holed out for a triple boggy 6..!, I don't know what it is about this hole but over the years it's become my
nemesis hole many a potential winning score for me has crashed and burned at 16th..!!.

Out for an other game today again played reasonably well to finishing with a gross 87 for a nett 68 and 36 points,
Didn't get off to the best of starts duffing my tee shot 50 yards up the first fairway..! and finally holed out for a double boggy 6
Did manage however to steady the ship at the 125 yard par 3 second with a nicely struck nine iron that stopped 4 feet short of the hole did miss the birdie putt but walk off with a solid par, from there onward things settled down and my play was fairly steady of the 14 greens I hit in regulation I did only managed to single put three of them for par, the other eleven holes I took two puts to hole out for boggy..! and the annoying thing is a number of the puts were relatively short ones and I only just missed them when really I should have holed them,

Note to ones self, "you really need to learn to put better..!"

Slightly off-topic but a while back I mentioned the course that crosses the border between Finland and Sweden. It has opened and I just read about its restrictions as the border is still closed. You need to book your tee time by 6 pm the previous day. The club then submits the list of players to the Border Guard and the players need to have IDs with them for possible checks. Also, eight greenkeepers have special permits to cross the border to do their work.

Second in the matchplay series between my 14 year old son and I and he's got it back to one all. He was one up going down 17, both hit our tee shots right into rough but with him worse off. I play safe and hit the front apron, he gouges an impossible 7 iron to the green but still 40-50 feet. I hobble my chip to 15 feet and lip out for eventual bogey, and he leaves himself a 10 footer with a foot and a half of break for par. I'm watching his putt and then realise with 3 feet to go, he's walking towards me smiling with his hat off and hand outstretched. needless to say it tracked and drained and I lost 2 and 1:D. i think its only his head keeping him at 14 handicap at the moment as his striking of his MP5's is getting annoyingly consistent. We played the 18th for wine gums and he hit an 8 iron 165 into the green to beat me on that too.

Sounds like you're having a great time with your lad? - Brings back memories of playing with my dad & grandad when I was a nipper - I like the sound of the "Wine Gum Challenge"! - Maybe you should pitch that to Sky as it sounds more interesting than their awful Hero effort ...

Its funny, it was only a 'wine gum challenge' as he spotted them in the pro shop and its now his favourite sweet. When I first took up the game in the 80's, our four ball, in an attempt to lighten the competitive juices, used to play each weekend for a bag of wine gums, supplied by the previous weeks winner, with a presentation in the clubhouse and everything :D:D

+2 after 9, +3 after 13, then a four-putt double after hitting my approach shot pin high but practically to the worst possible place on the green for the rather ridiculous hole location. Then the nerves started to get to me.

Made a par on the next hole after a thin and slicing 8 iron tee shot pin high to the fringe, then saved bogey from a greenside bunker after hitting practically the same approach shot as on the previous hole. 17th, a downhill par 3 and another thinned tee shot but luckily got the ball onto the green only to make a mess of it with three putts.

18th tee, sitting at +7, topped my drive into a horrible place, then pulled the provisional way left. I found the original ball in a horrible lie and walked back to the tee. Another drive pulled way left and had to play a sideways shot out of a bunker for my 4th shot. It was followed by a flushed 6 iron and two putts for a smooth triple and a final score of 81 and 38 points.

Maybe next time.

77 (+5) today for 34pts in the Stableford. Blowing a hooley on Morley today so pretty chuffed with the score. Gutted to blob the 18th though with a double bogey 🤬🤬🤬

Right so a bit of a story behind this. Up to 2 years ago I hit the ball quite far, GameGolf Driving Avg. showed 260 meters, which is decent enough. Sadly I got an illness which made me loose lots of weight and hence muscle and makes it very difficult for me to build muscles. I got diagnosed mid of last year and it's getting treated now, but last year I couldn't hit the ball very far, max Drive was somewhere like 165 meters. Now I'm trying hard to gain back some speed and last week I had a very nice moment in my round when on the 11th hole I really hit a flush drive and got it going 227 meters. It felt soo amazing to finally feel the club moving through the air again, the shaft felt a bit more active as well and I ended up making a nice Par, after hitting a decent wedge onto the green. My goal for this year is to break 80 again, the last 5 rounds showing good signs, being 86, 92, 86, 84 and 83, whilst not getting much to drop. But most importantly after being frustrated and weka on the course most of last year (I couldn't walk 18 without getting strong muscle pain and cramps in the legs), I can finally enjoy my favourite hobby again.
And I just love my Mizunos, I really do. Every club just looks feels and performs amazing.
