Reminded me of a memory from my college golf days.

I was the University of Louisville. We frequently played matches or practiced with the guys from Bellermine College, also in Louisville. Their team became really good friends with our guys.

One of their players was a guy named Elmore Just. He would show up with a bag of old scratched up woods and mismatched irons that looked like he had picked each one from the $5 junk barrel.

And then he would beat the living daylights out of all of us.

Here's what I currently have in my bag...

Taylormade M2 driver, 3 wood and hybrid, all with regular flex graphite shafts.

2016 Mizuno JPX-EZ Forged 4 through Gap Wedge with regular flex steel shafts.

Mizuno MP-T4 54* sand wedge and 58* lob wedge.

The putter is an old Mizuno Axis 19. I sat it up on top of the bag because I don't think too many people have seen one.

Note - The irons were lengthened 1" and then backweighted with tungsten pellets to bring down the swingweight to D1 at the long irons progressively to D4 at the wedges.

Also, I just installed jumbo grips on everything, partly to help with my arthritic hands, but also because they should fit me better.

Yeah, ain't it wunnerful?

I currently have a Taylormade driver, 3 wood and hybrid in my bag. Sometimes I feel guilty about that.

Hey gang...

I have to be honest about this... I've sort of gone over to the dark side.

I have 2 sets of clubs, one with Mizuno woods and irons, the other with Taylormade woods and irons. In the last couple months, after a lot of experimentation and time in the booth, it's become pretty clear I do better with the Taylormade set.

For the moment, I'm going to play them while I try to modify the Mizuno irons into playable shape. I still need something to fit in where the Mizunos lack a 4 iron. I lengthened them 1" and used tungsten pellets to backweight them, but they are still a heavier swingweight than the Taylormade irons are straight from the factory. Somewhere, there is a happy medium and I'm going to pursue reacquiring a playable Mizuno set. (Mizuno is a nice incurable disease)

Just for the time being, I'm the Darth Vader of the Mizuno Forum.

But I ain't going nowhere, so don't get your hopes up.
I've had a good day if I didn't fall out of the cart...
