New Wedges

I currently play MP R12 wedges (56 and 58 degrees) which I have had for a good few years now. Recently I have noticed that the check when landing on the green is diminishing and backspin is a thing of the past. Both wedges are 10 degrees bounce but given that I play in damp/soft condition for at least half the year, I was thinking about moving up to 14 degrees bounce on the 56 degree and maybe going for a 60 degree wedge with 12 degrees bounce (60/12 unfortunately is a combination that Mizuno don't do but I might consider 62/12)

I went looking at wedges at the weekend and can't find anything I feel as comfortable with. I tried the T7's which were pretty nice but felt a bit hard off the face sometimes. This is no doubt due to the Boron and is a feeling I get sometimes with my JPX 900 Forged when I am not hitting it out the middle. The S6 wedges felt better but I wasn't as keen on the look at address - the club appeared to have a bigger head than I am used to but it felt right on contact with the ball. Finally I tried the Vokey SM6 which looks wonderful but they made me realise how lucky I have been with the MP R12 and their soft feel. I hit the Vokey's well but there was a hardness there that I couldn't eliminate even with a shot out the middle. The club I tried had a stiff shaft so I might need to try a standard wedge flex shaft. My current wedges have standard wedge flex Dynamic Gold shafts and I have no complaints.

Has anyone else had difficulty finding a replacement for their MP wedges or is there something else I should be looking at?

I've used the R series wedges since they came and their predecessor, the Tour Style before that. The shape of the head just suited my eye better than anything else. Never really liked the T series wedges, purely on looks alone. My wife has a T7 which is just as good as my current R12, so it's just down to what suits your eye iMO.

Even though I think they have now been replaced, if you can find any still in stock - you might like the MPT-5's. There are still the odd one 'working their way through the system'. I recently bought a couple of new black finish MPT-5 wedges and really like them. Slightly straighter leading edge than the MPR I think (I had those a while back too), but I actually like them a little more. Might be an option?

The Majority of "Wedge Flex" shafts are Stiff (S200/300/400)

I've owned the original MPR, the MPR12 and currently have the MPT-5 the original MPR were the best out of the 3 IMO.

Rumours are that the S18 Wedges are coming (have a LOOK HERE), It might be worth hanging on for them to see if they fit your eye/needs?

Thanks for the help. My playing partner has the MP T5 and they feel really good but I don't find the look as pleasing as my MP-R's. I did search for MP T5's a couple of weeks ago and there are only odd clubs and lofts left with a couple of retailers so I think they are now out of the equation in any case.

I believe that the S5's get replaced in a few months so it might be worth waiting since mine are still quite playable even though they are past their best. The S18 has a passing resemblance to the S5 so it might well be the direct replacement.
