900 Hybrid

Had a hit of the 900 19 deg hybrid this morning and was very impressed with it. Carry was about 215 with roll or to around 235. Best shot was 225 rolling to 248.

That was with the Standard Fuji shaft in Regular flex, even though the numbers were awesome it's already in my mind that the shaft is too whippy.

So, has anyone actually hit the Pro shaft that is available, or compared the Reg v Stiff Fuji shafts?

I've phoned a few different AG and the only options they all have in are 19deg with the Reg Fuji.

I'm also interested in the 16 deg option.

I did try the 16/19/22 Hybrid with the Fujikura Standart stiff shaft. All of them felt good. I do like my 19deg fairway wood very much, so I only did buy the 22deg version

Maybe you could hit them that good because the shaft suits your swing.

I hit the driver and 3 wood as well the driver had the X Stiff 661 and hit the 3 wood with the Stiff 661 first off but had to switch to X Stiff as the Stiff was spinning way too much.

That's why I was so surprised at the numbers with the Regular Flex Fuji and wonder if the Stiff Pro shaft will perform better.

The way the 19 went is why I'm potentially thinking of the 16 version to replace my 3 wood

What would you class as spinning too much and what part of it is down to the shaft and what part is down to the swing/strike?

The rpm figures on GC2 tells me it's spinning too much, switched to X Stiff and rpm dropped, carry upped and flight didn't stall.

Strike could cause the issue but I've done enough testing and work with GC2 to know when it was the strike that caused the issue.

Hi Paul ... When you say you used the standard Fuji shaft, do you mean the Orochi? - Not the hybrid shafts, but I have experience of the Orochi v the Pro Fuji shafts - The Pro is a much more stable shaft in my opinion & as we know that we are not too far apart on what shafts work for us both, I'd say the Pro in Stiff would be spot on for you - I have the Pro shafts in both my  R15 fairway woods & in those clubs they are as good as anything I have tried (which is a lot, as you know!)
If I've got the wrong end of the stick, sorry about that ;)

The standard shaft in the Hybrids appear to be the Fuji 6 shaft, which is the Fuji shaft I mean.

It might just be in my head already that I don't like the Fuji 6 as I thought it was an awful shaft in the EZ driver. Regardless of that though, it feels to whippy in the Reg flex that I tried.

Sorry hursty I meant RPM wise...

On Trackman I was showing as having an average of 2250rpm when hitting in the smash zone at 1.5°-2.5° up. I also found  that the difference between hitting 0.5° up and 1.5° up was an average of 500rpm. When I thought I had hit up on it I had actually struck down on some and the revs went through the roof (3500 and some over that).

Perhaps the profile of the regular shaft fits your swing better? I was surprised when a stiff and not a x-stiff was right for me.
I have a measured driver swing speed of 116mph and carry on average 280yds with the loft set at 12°. I found that the Kiyoshi with its stiff butt, soft mid and firm tip, fitted the profile of my swing as I load at the top and not on the way down.

Shafts are like wands in harry potter..... the shafts choose the golfer, not the golfer choosing the shaft!

This is the main reason why I want to hit the other shafts side by side, if the Reg Flex in the Fuji Shix turns out to be the best then I'd go with it.

Had the pleasure of trying the jpx 900 hybrid 3 on a fujikura pro stiff last Wednesday.went down to the demo day wanting to hit the jpx 900 5 wood fixed to a Speeder Evo 661 stiff.no problem hitting this one off the deck.ive never launched the ball so high,2nd and 3rd shots straight high .followed by several more!.glad I left the wallet at home.then asked if  could have a  bash with the 19* hybrid. Curious to see if it's much different from the 850."looks cute at address, smack wow,I'm in love.strike 2 I,m down on one knee with a ring in my hand.strike 3 I think I've found a true companion.this just might be one of those clubs that becomes a legend...
