Part of the presidents statement:-
"
By product category, the golf product market is decreasing globally and must be urgently dealt with.We are reviewing the entire supply-chain framework for the restructuring of our operations in order to transform our operational constitution so that it will become unaffected by the economy. Not only must we respond to an urgent agenda of rebuilding and reconstructing our operations in the Americas as well as our global golf operations, but must also limit further downward tendencies of our gross margin ratio.Purchases made in US dollars, and the weak currency of each country is a contributing factor for rising costs. In order to improve our gross margin ratio we will explore all avenues, such as creating high value-added products, but also work on a variety of ways to decrease costs, set fair sales prices, prevent unnecessary discount sales with better inventory control and more."

True that the golf market as a whole is struggling.  Hence Nike pulling out of equipment and TMade up for sale by Adidas.

However there's a lot you can't see in those big numbers.  We've just had our most successful launch in many years with the JPX900 irons.  In Europe we've shipped more custom iron sets from Sep-February than ever before.  Not sure on US numbers, but again they're pretty solid at the moment.

Industry is shaking itself down from all the changes - but Nike's pull out seems to be benefitting Mizuno more than anyone else at the moment.

Rumour would be the correct word.  The sales teams won't know what the bigger plans are this far ahead of time.

Not to say what we are / aren't going to be doing.  But the person quoted on WRX doesn't know.

+1, but a bit concerned with a view to the recent streak of new MP clubs:

MP 55: Japan only

MP 66: Japan only

MP Driver: Japan only.

No MP 64 successor.

Lower MP sales figures vs. higher JPX (900) figures (just an unlearned guess).

Yoro only would be a steep price increase and probably make it difficult to demo the MPs.

Some blurred areas where Japan are pushing a little harder with the MP name than EU / US.  I think it's fair to say that we think the MP name is valuable and not something we want to make too mass market or burn out.

I can't imagine us ever calling time on the MP series......just protecting it a little better.  There's a lot of room within the JPX line to move into the better player area - which means we can keep MP a little tighter and exactly as it should be.  Certainly don't want to be reaching for a sales number with a brand like MP.....it's too good for that.

Don't believe all the rubbish about Yoro Edition and MP becoming one thing.

MP is the club line.
Yoro Edition is a premium custom finish service.

It just happens that most of the time the MP irons will be the ones we offer Yoro finished on.  Doesn't mean we won't add the JPX900 Tour at some point.  Certainly doesn't mean you'll only be able to get MP through Yoro.

I got my mp55 from rakuten and if they bring out mp56 as Japan only I will import them too.

I dont really understand why Mizuno has 8 iron lines out but imo the best are the 2 that are Japan only

IvanDrago - if we thought the 66s and 55s were the best irons in the line, they would be in Europe too.  Mizuno Japan took a different route this time - they missed out on the JPX900 Tour.  Take a look at how that model has taken off on the PGA Tour this season.......there's more than a few Japanese customers asking why they don't have the best model in the Mizuno line up.
