I did that with my dad in 1981 before the Open courses became expensive.

I was 15 and we played Troon, Turnberry, Muirfield, St Andrews and Carnoustie

I think all of that came to about £130 for dad and about £70 for me as a junior

Needed a letter from our secretary to  play Troon and Muirfield but it was an experience I will always treasure

Turnberry and Carnoustie were really scabby and in terrible condition, I think they just got honed for The Open, but the layout of both of them was superb

I'm sure they'll all be in good condition now albeit much more expensive.  One day, maybe I'll get round to it.

That's a cracking set of courses. Royal Dornoch is ace, a really great 'vibe' (sorry) about the place, like Crail but in better condition. Have a great time chap :)
