Well that was a week that was...!

Just back home after a weeks free board and lodgings in my local hospitals Intensive care
Cardiology unit...!

It all started a few months ago when I got the odd pain in my chest and back for no
apparent reason even when at rest, then came the dizzy spells,
light-headedness and breathlessness,

So I put on an appointment with my family doctor on Monday for 14.45pm and after an
extensive examination and an ECG done by him at the surgery I was in
hospital by 15.30pm,

After extensive Investigations scans and tests it was determined that I was suffering
from Unstable Angina or sometimes referred to as acute coronary
syndrome that causes unexpected chest pain even when at rest,

Thankfully I was discharged today But from now on I have to take a 75mg dispersable
Aspirin and a 2.5mg Bisoprolol Beta blocker tablet every day for life
in order to control my blood pressure and my heart rate,

So I don't think I'll be playing any more golf now for the remainder of the year,

One other bit of advice the Consultant gave me before leaving hospital this afternoon was,
stop trying to hit the ball 300 yards from now on and just settle for 250 yards instead...! ;)

Cheers

The things people do to get noticed ;)

Scary times when that happens. Had the ECG at the GP and was referred straight off to hospital myself 10 years back. Ended up going private and all was fine in the end, but, it's a stressful time indeed.  Take their advice John, ca' canny with those drives in future, I'll give you a lesson in how to play "old mans golf" and pop it 200yds down the middle ;)

Feet up, rest and remember to take some exercise if that's what they have allowed. The golf can take care of itself once your feeling better and stronger in the spring.

Take care and behave yourself.

Yes take care of yourself John a good result that all settled with no major loss of function. I have a CT Angiogram coming up in a few weeks myself. Maybe I should eat fewer pies :)

Hi David,

Thank you I will, the consultant said playing golf was a good form of exercise but not to over do it,
he also thought that losing a bit of weight round my waist would be even more benificial for me..!

The only thing I wasn't  so happy about was he said it within ear shot of Netta so you can imagine
i'm now on an instant diet

Hi Jayson,

Yes it was a good result at one point he was taking about sending me for an Angiogram but after he got the results from all the other tests that were being carried out on me ie; ECG's, chest x-rays blood tests Echo sounds and finally a treadmill test and based on all this info his opinion was that aspirin and Beta Blockers were the way to go at the moment,

I am however to attend his heart clinic as an outpatient so he can keep an eye on my progress

All the best with your up and coming CT Angiogram and let us know how you get on,

PS, Eating fewer pies would be a good thing mate...!

The things us Jocks do for free board and lodgings!  Take it easy Seanmor and I'm sure you'll be fine.

There must be something in the Mizuno water just now though as I've got an ECG lined up for next Wednesday. Hopefully they don't whisk me away but I'll make sure I've got clean boxers on just in case.

Funnily enough that's the first thing I made sure I had on...!

But I wasn't prepared in any other way had absolutely nothing else with me they had to give me a pair of pyjamas that were three sizes to small for me,

I must have looked like the Hulk wearing them Lol,

Good luck next Wednesday with the ECG
