Played twice already this week
Yesterday I played in an inter-club Winter League match at Guildford - 4BBB format with my partner getting 10 shots & both opponents getting 5 - Bit of a struggle for us to be honest after an easy win a week earlier - We had to claw our way back from 2 down on the back nine to salvage a half - Indeed, I had a putt on the last to win the match (which lipped out) & one of our opponents holed from 10' for the half ...
Today was our "Kitty Blow-Out" Christmas bash at Guildford - This was Texas Scramble format, so 10% of combined handicap off gross score - We got off to a flyer after I hit the 1st green in 2 & one of our team holed for 25' for birdie! - Another birdie on 5th, & only one bogey, saw us reach the turn in 1 under - We picked up one more birdie (& no dropped shots) on back 9 for a final score of 67 minus 6.1 - Our score of 60.9 surprisingly won the event by a couple of shots ...

Scramble today. -5 for the front nine including a playing partner holing out from 140 yards but then only -2 on the easier back nine. Greens were tough though with pins at the front of each green due to frost. And no chance of stopping on them as they were concrete. So will be interesting to see how we go: 63 net 56.25 probably not quite enough.

New swing coming along helped by my new DST compressor. Some really crisp iron shots today (and a 300+ yard drive on the First helped by the hard fairway) but a few months of work required.

Final game of the week for me today at New Forest - Usual rollup in cold conditions (2*) greens a bit frosty on top but from a decent height the ball would still stop - Playing off 4hcp I was steady on front 9 with 18pts but couldn't make a putt & I only managed one birdie on the back 9 (from 3') to finish with 20pts - In the conditions I was quite happy with 38pts but I'd have been a bit hacked off to score 43pts, as one of the others did, only to find one of the high handicappers shooting 46pts

Hard to believe no-one has been in here since last Saturday  - Or maybe with the weather we've had (even in the South) it isn't that hard to believe? - Guildford was closed due to snow Mon & Tues but opened Wed albeit on temp greens - I played in a fourball this morning (Thurs) & most greens were in play, with only a few of the wetter ones still closed - Hit the ball ok but a couple of loose shots resulted in single points, or in one case, nil points! - So off my 1hcp I had 31pts and that was the best score in our group - Christmas bash at New Forest on Saturday - Fingers firmly crossed for a decent day weather wise ...
