Played in the rollup at New Forest today - No complaints about the weather (sunny & warm) - Got off to a nice start with pars on the first three holes but followed that with three bogeys & a double! - 40 blows to the turn (+5) but played nicely on the back nine with eight pars & a birdie (-1) - Still struggling with concentration due to my blocked ear but worth it on a day like today weather-wise & with the large number of ponies & their foals which are all over the course at the moment (see pics below & try not to go "aaah" at the second one?)

I'm originally from Kentucky and while I wouldn't say I grew up on horseback like some friends, I totally enjoy being around horses. There's no way I could concentrate on golf if I played with the ponies on the course. I'd be enjoying them a lot more.

My oldest granddaughter Daniella is growing up on horseback. Here she is with her horse A Royal Event, aka Evan for short. He's a 12 year old American Standardbred show horse and actually has a very affectionate personality. I learned that the wet, sloppy way when he licked me one day.

At this rate you'll have an extra stroke when you defend the Blue Jacket at next years 5th Major ;)

I bet 90% of all golfers with single digit handicaps would say that about their bad rounds.

When I was at my best, (what seems like a lifetime ago), I figured I'd make about 13 pars. What I did on the other 5 holes determined how the round would be.

Rain - No Play... There a 70% chance of rain every day through Friday of this week.

Have you even noticed when you have a new club in your bag, a JPX-900 driver in this case, you never seem to get a chance to use it right away? It always seems like it rains, or I hurt myself and have to wait a week when I have something new in the bag.

I'm convinced God is a tennis player.

I failed Paul's test. :(

I'm in a bad slump now. I can hit some good iron shots and I'm not shanking my wedges currently but the woods have gone. I did manage to make my first back-to-back birdies yesterday though. Even that wasn't a showing of superior talent as the first one was an almost 90-degree dogleg par 4 that required 7 iron and a PW followed by a short par 3 where 9 iron was enough.

I'm kind of missing being able to hit my driver and fairway woods well as they can be a blast but maybe it's time to be boring and grind it out with the irons on par 4s and get them in order.

I've prepared a PowerPoint presentation for tomorrow as I'm supposed to hold a "rules evening" at our club. Last year we had a guy from the union do it, he has worked as a rules official in The Open and in the U.S. Open but this year it's me. :D

Can you get it recorded? I think it would be great to post something like that.
