I went to the range last night for the first time in a year or so (not even sure, probably longer).

Got 100 balls, after about 20 strikes ranging from rubbish to average, I found something. By concentrating on literally nothing else apart from tucking my elbow into my hip on the way down, I began to absolutely rip it.

Looking forward to Saturday now, just hope I can take it to the course.

Well, I kind of took it to the course.

20 points round the front, 8 pars 1 bogey. Putter was stone cold.

Little bit iffy round the back 9, but had 35 points on the 18th tee, which is a shot hole (Si 2), and then lost 2 balls off the tee, so decided to walk the hole lol. Still, I was happy with how I hit the ball, much better.

Finally got out for a game on Saturday at New Forest - First game for over 10 days after picking up the nasty cold / flu thing that is doing the rounds - Rollup handicap is same as club (5) and on a very wet course 18pts was a good effort on front - Was looking at a slight improvement on back, but on 17th the heavens opened & I opted to head for the clubhouse so didn't finish the round - Great to get swinging again though ...

Now back home from my mini Surrey tour, the weather put paid to any further play.

Many thanks to PaulBoy and (not)OhBoy for their hospitality and excellent company. I don’t think any of us were at our best, courtesy of some winter lurgies, but good fun nonetheless. Great to catch up gentlemen, the Forum really does have a high proportion of lovely chaps. Guildford was in excellent condition given it was closed the day before and Coombe Hill was terrific, a very good choice Nick.

Here’s to the next round,

Always good to play with you too 'nanas - We were lucky to get a relatively dry day after the deluge on Sunday - Sorry my game wasn't quite up to the usual standard, but I have been "tom & d i c k" - I did tell you how good Coombe Hill was & glad you enjoyed it ...

First round for 8 weeks earlier today.Wasn't expecting much considering i hadn't touched my clubs at all in that time and i had just put a brand new untested shaft in the driver?
1 st drive wasn't too bad just a little hooky,2nd drive arrow straight but i aimed 30yds right for wind assisted draw.Wasn't until the 5th that i really got hold of one and given the strong wind and ground conditions it went out a long way.Scoring wasn't great but i can put that down to not playing for a while.Front 9 total 11 pts of 6 hcp
Back 9 was a completely different story.Hit some real good ,long drives.Never missed a fairway until 18th,Birdies on 10th and 17th had me standing on 18th tee with 20 pts already in the bag.Wasn't too bad a shot just wasn't wide enough and clipped some trees and bounced into a spot behind a tree.Chipped out and hit 3rd into green.only to knock it 3ft past.then a lip out for double and no points.i'll take a 1 over gross on the back though..

Had a couple of games this week in very cold conditions - Monday was a club match at home where I was giving 10 11 & 17 shots in 4BBB - We managed to win 1up - Tuesday I played in a singles match giving "only" 10 shots - I played well & won 7&6 shooting approx 1 over - So I was really looking forward to the monthly medal today (played as stableford in the winter months) - Greens were rock hard & you know you're going to have a bad day when you stripe a 3 wood up the middle of the 3rd fairway, only to find the ball missing when you look for it - I teed off down the next hole (in opposite direction) & found my ball from the previous hole 70 yards from where it would have finished! - We could only explain this that a dog had picked up the ball & dropped it where I found it? - I played the front nine still seething about this & only managed 10pts  - Back 9 was more respectable with 18pts but still lost the money in our 4ball

Still not hit a ball since last August.

Anyone got a pair of skates to send me?
