That definitely works too. All four of us who play together on Monday mornings hate Trump. One of the guys is from Mexico too! We've made promises to each other that political talk ends in the parking lot, or it would probably distract our games if we kept it up on the course.

One of the other guys had to go to a wedding at Trump Doral the other night and didn't even like that.

Anyway, sorry for the tangent. Now we return to our regularly scheduled programming.

How's everyone been playing? The quality of my recent game rhymes with luck, but it sure ain't lucky.

Board competition at Guildford today - Greens have come on leaps & bounds since I was last there (2 weeks ago) - At the risk of sounding like I'm making excuses, I wasn't really feeling great today - While away last week one of my ears got blocked up & it can't be sorted until tomorrow - So I thought, just grin & bear it, but that plan failed miserably on the front 9 where I shot a 7 over par 43  - Even on the Par 5 8th where I hit a 5 wood over the back of the green, when it was 285y to the centre, I managed to chip back to 2' & then miss the putt for birdie! - Back 9 I just tried to recover some respectability & had 8x pars & 1x bogey - Even the bogey was a nice 4 iron onto a Par 3 followed by 3x putts from 15'
Looks like my dabble with 4hcp has come to and end, which is disappointing

Sorry to hear about that. Plugged ears really throws me off. My balance goes to... well, wherever it goes. The more you bend over, the worse it will get too.

I've never been diagnosed as allergic to anything, but there's one particular spot by the 7th tee at Killian Greens where I always seem to feel weird. I wonder if it's something the people whose house is right by the tee are using in their yard, or maybe some plant they have there that affects me. My ears plug up and for a few minutes, it's a miserable feeling, but I'm luckier than you that in my case, it passes.

In hot weather, I need to step on the tee and hit it quickly before my ears plug up. It's a really easy hole I should birdie a lot more than I do, but I seem to have an unusual handicap on that hole. Once I step on the 8th tee, it seems to be gone.

I hope you get it sorted out and feel better. It's not a nice feeling.

No driver in the bag today but i did decide to use the 3 wood again.Hit 14% of fairways. You might think thats poor but i was hitting it through the fairway and only 2 yds off maximum.I was pretty straight off the tee ,using either 2 iron or 3 wood.I actually hit a 3 wood 278 into a stiff breeze on the 5th hole.It probably rolled out 40 yds?I hit a 7 iron 200 on the 2nd with roll out.Fairways pretty firm at the moment.Only 44% of GIR too but i only managed 1.44 putts on average , with 5 single putts..Chipping was pretty solid too ,leaving me with no more than a 2 footer for par.Missed 5 genuine birdie putts, mainly down to the growth just taking a bit of pace off the greens during the day. Ended up shooting a level par 35 gross ,which is my best scoring and swinging for a while.Feeling happier again !

Thanks Dennis ... I'm due to get it sorted tomorrow, so be back to my normal grumpy self! - You're right that it affects your balance, but I found it difficult to concentrate more than anything?
Cheers ... Paul
Edit 02/06 - Don't want this thread turning into a discussion about my medical issues, but a blast with the water cannon today failed to clear my ear & I now face 2 weeks of oiling before they will try again :(

When my ears plug up, my playing partners say they know because I speak differently. When I'm plugged up and everything sounds so loud inside my head, they say I speak too quietly to be heard.

Needless to say, they tease that they like me better that way.

We had similar weather yesterday. It rained all day and the course never even opened. I tried to convince myself that my yard needed the rain so much I didn't mind missing a day of golf.
