I'm about to head out to play 9 holes.

Recently, I feel like I'd be better off talking about getting ready to play golf, because I'm still filled with hope. Talking about it after I play, I'm filled with feelings of remorse.   ;-)

It was 97* yesterday. Hopefully the golf ball won't melt in midair.
I've had a good day if I didn't fall out of the cart...

My plane has landed safely in Shank City. :(

It's amazing what those shots can do to your self confidence. Hit it fat, thin, hook or slice and you'll get over it but shank one and you're worried for the rest of the week.

I need some range time... :D

I need to BUILD my own range to afford all the range time I need.

You're hitting Chinese hooks and I topped the ball 6 times today. Cousins by different mothers...

I've probably heard 10 different expressions describing shanks. Most of them are some sort of assault on a foreign country. Polish gutter ball is one of my favorites. A lateral... Conservative worm burner... Cutting the right rough... Tiger's girl friend... (play on the work skank)... Hitting an adjacent... Duck slice, as opposed to duck hook... and the always understandable hosel rocket...

And I've hit enough to deserve each name you can think of.

In Finland shanks are called sockets and in fact, if you Google it, you get results in German, Italian, French, Swedish and whatnot so I assume it's a widely-spread European name for the hosel rocket.

Anyhoo, my friends have kindly named me Socrates for my achievements in the field.

Going slightly off topic, I am no stranger to the shank, and in the UK we have a few alternative names as it is not politically correct to use the "S" word in polite company! - My favourite two are both ***** Rhyming Slang: The "Lucy" as in Lucy Locket (socket) and the "J Arthur" as in the J Arthur Rank (shank) - Gives me the hee-bee-gee-bees just thinking about it!

At the risk of being too political here, in the future I shall refer to a shank as a Trump.

It's not useful, it moves, but bad things happen and it's embarrassing everywhere you go.

I think it fits.

To trump over here, well in some parts means to break wind.
