Played first round of the winter 4BBB today. Played ok, shot one under handicap and my partner was around his but we lost 4&2. One of the opposition (someone I play with normally on a Saturday, top chap) was 7 under his handicap when holing the winning putt on 15. He ended up with a 73 (playing off 13). No chance.

73, 13 handicap? Strange that you lost that one ;)

I always find that the most dangerous matchplay opponents are in the 12-16 range, as they are getting quite a few shots and are very capable of doing what happened to you. I'd rather play someone off 28 and give them 22 shots.

I 'played' yesterday, but i'd rather not talk about it :(

Played in the rollup at Guildford today & after another week without playing, my expectations were low - Also I was playing off 1hcp - Got off to a good start & parred my way to the turn & 19pts - Poor start to the back 9 with dropped shots at 10 & 11, but narrowly missed birdies on 12 & 13 before hitting three birdies in a row on 14.15 & 16 - Dropped a shot on the 17th but finished the back 9 with 18pts - So 37pts & runner-up in the rollup ...

I know what you mean. I play off 16 and can blow hot or freezing cold. Frustrating handicap for me and some of my opponents!

Took the clubs out today for a quick 9.First time i have  played for 16 days! Hit it really well and was very surprised that i was hitting it as far as i did.Knocked it round in 3 over .Mainly due to missed putts but 3 of those shots can be attributed to the fact i putted with my wedge. Looking forward to the weekend now:)

Played 9 holes today, 6 over par, best score in a long time, can't get used the 900 driver, just feels like it wants to go left at address, which isn't a good thing for me, shaft doesn't help being a x flex but not losing any distance when I strike it well. Will keep my eye out for a reg flex

In my experience X flex would make it want to go more right than left?

Midweek Stableford at Guildford today - Nice start with birdie up 1st (6 iron to 3') - Pars all the way to 7th which I bogied & an annoying 3 putt at 9th for 2nd bogey of the 9 - Finished with 19pts - Back 9 was more of a struggle but a nice run of pars from 14th - 17th steadied the ship & I finished with 16pts & 35pts for the round - Hopefully this will get me in the buffer zone?

Exact opposite for me Rob, weak shafts cause a massive high right for me.

I’m with you on this Hursty. Too stiff and you get no lag in the shaft holding the face open so it flies straight left. Too whippy and it hangs open and too far behind so goes high and right.
