Have a feeling that the US Open will be won by someone coming from behind.

Could this Lee's championship at long last? I hope so.

Pressure on G Mac and Furyk will be immense.

Good start over first 6 holes will be key.

Ernie a bit of a dark horse.

Woods has pretty much taken himself out of contention at this point you would say?

There is no way back for him after a start like that.

well everyone is now out on the course. Westwood had to fight for that bogey on the 1st.

The first really is a par 5 eh? I think they said it was playing something like 4.7 and was a 5 last time they played here.

This is going to be some attritional golf today - I'm liking the dramatic mist they laid on BTW

Westwood is such a pure striker of the ball - it's a joy to watch!

that is a crazy par 4. They said Furyk had 271 left for his 2nd shot!

Terribly bad luck for Lee sticking his ball up the tree like that!

I'd love to stay up and watch all of this, but I'm just too tired...

Ach well, I'll find out tomorrow who's won!

Woke up this morning, switched on news to find out that Web Simpson won.

Didn't see that coming.

Indeed, saw a Bio on him the week before the tournament, deeply religious man of faith. Well played WS, dark horse in this instance!

It's interesting that pundits maintain that players who have already got a major have the experience and know how and should cope with the pressure better. That doesn't seem to be the case at the moment with 9 first time winners in a row.

I stayed up and watched it last night (knackered now). Simpson basically "Schwartzeled" it from under everyone's noses.

The course just ground everybody down and Jim had a "What the Furyk?" moment on 16 with a Roryesque duck hook into the next post code.

Lee might well be cursed in majors. He lost his ball up a tree midway through the round and never recovered from the double bogey blues..

It just looked impossible to make any kind of forward move. As soon as you dropped shots, that was those shots gone forever.

I was asleep before the victory speeches but presumably he thanked God etc...

Next very soon is The Open. Golf as God himself intended :)
