Hi,

Last summer I was fir for Ping iE1 irons, that I play std length and yellow dot (+1.5deg upright).
I demoed a JPX900 Forged head last night, and it felt amazing. My questions concern shaft recommendations and lie angles.

I got amazing results in Trackman with KBS C-Taper Lite 110 Stiff on JPX900F. It just felt amazingly good and produced amazing results.

Below are my Swing DNA numbers that I got last summer with Mizuno fitting equipment, even though I was fit for Ping at that time. Could someone check if that is consistent with the KBS CTL 110S shaft that I found amazing? I don't think my swing has changed much from that time.

Also, I'd like advise on how to order the JPX900F as for lie angles. I have listed my club lengths and lies (actual from my Ping set) below. Based on that, I'd figure I need 1.5-2 deg Upright on JPX900F, taking into account the small length difference to Ping as well (JPX is 0.25" shorter and I am fine with that). I am hitting the Pings approximately in the center, some slight markings show on toe side, maybe at the 1deg up point, attached is a recent lie tape test that I did with the pings, with the lie angles listed below.

Swing DNA: 4386
Clubhead speed: 81mph (trackman, Mizuno JPX900F 6i)

Ping iE1 yellow dot, std length (my set)
3i 60.38deg 39"
4i 61.13deg 38.5"
5i 61.88deg 38"
6i 62.63deg 37.5"
7i 63.38deg 37"
8i 64.13deg 36.5"
9i 64.88deg 36"
PW     65.5deg 35.5"

Mizuno JPX900F standard measurements

4i 60.0deg 38.25"
5i 60.5deg 37.75"
6i 61.0deg 37.25"
7i 61.5deg 36.75"
8i 62.0deg 36.25"
9i 62.5deg 35.75"
PW     63.0deg 35.5"

Many thanks!

Tero

Hi Marty

You mean KBS C-Taper Lite 110 S flex is in top3 shafts with the DNA numbers and 81mph CHS?
What are the other two, if I may still ask?

True Marty, I was a bit surprised by the 2 Reg recommendations. Just goes to show that you need to be actually hitting the shaft to see how it feels before buying.

Hows things with you?

Interesting that CTL is recommended as Regular flex. I haven't hit that. Stiff felt fantastic.

On another note, in a PDF that has shaft recommendations based on tempo and 5i swing speed, on that chart I fit perfectly into the CTL Stiff.

I wonder if I should still test the Regular as well...

Its worth testing all the shaft options and comparing not only the numbers but how it feels before you make a decision.

The shafts are only recommendations to get a starting point.

Why did`nt the fitter check your lie as well,  Ping and mizuno clubs have different lie angles, .
as for length, Mizuno clubs are measured with the grips Off,..

Still better than Bubba has managed :)

Main thing is you're back out playing mate, scores don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

It was the same with me if you remember Hursty.Always had same 3 shafts recommended in DG X100 SS,PX 6.0 and KBS Tour X SS but the same numbers now give me DG X100,PX 6.5 and KBS Tour X

The software seems to now be closer to the old one in terms of what shafts is recommends.
The one that's updated from would of put me in a shaft 20 grams heavier.

Hi all,

Thanks for all the feedback.

I am currently leaning towards getting the JPX900F over CF16. I just can't get over the feel that the fitting cart 6 iron gave. Even if I currently can't hit the CF16 anywhere. Some people have mentioned that CF16 is really forgiving low on the face. I am a picker/sweeper, so I wonder if that is actually something I should be looking into and eventually still getting the CF16. But the feel... Oh boy.

Can anyone tell what the grip size is in the fitting shafts? It was thicker than my std Ping iE1 grip. I actually liked it quite a bit. Is there extra tape in the fitting cart shafts?
