I currently have a set of MP52's with Nippon 950 shafts and whilst I'm generally happy with them I have the opporunity to upgrade them to MP58's (same shaft) and wonder if anyone else has made a similar move?

Whilst I understand where they fall in the club hierachy i.e. better players, I get the impression that forgiveness and distance seems to improve (in theory) with every generation of club release and wonder if I'd gain anything worthwhile?

Cheers.

From what I understand the difference in forgiveness would be negligible between the 52s and the 58s. It may be a little but not a heap. It would ultimately come down to whether you prefer the cavity look of the 52s or the insert of the 58s. Both great looking clubs. I have the same irons as you and unless I was getting the 58s for an absolute bargain price I wouldn't swap them. The 53s are supposed to be more forgiving than all of them. I don't know if they're an option but probably worth a hit.
