Can anyone who has been custom fitted by Mizuno or a Mizuno Staff Fitter answer this ?

I would like lower spin in my irons.

Project X 5.5
S300 (or s/core/lighter S300)
Nippon Stiff 850/950/1050/1150
KBS Tour

On the launch monitor how do the spin rates and ball flight compare.
Flex how do they compare ?

Never tried Nippons but have played S300 about 7-8 years ago and think they played about the same or a little softer than the Project X 5.50.

Thanks

I have recently been to a custom fitting centre and my RPM was 6800 with True Temper Ping Shafts. I have gone for the Nippon 950 Stiff as the RPM reduced to around 5200 with this. The difference in flight was immense.

I would say go to a fitter and try each and every shaft as everyone's set up and swing is unique and what is right for one may not be right for another.

As for me, the Nippon 950GH is a softer shaft that has dramatically reduced the RPM on my iron shots.

Thanks for the reply, I understand everyone is unique just trying to get info on what has reduced spin for others in general.

What Pings did you have and flex/weight shafts, what Mizuno did you end up with ?

The Heads could have been a major factor if you went form something like a G5/10 to MP57/62 less so if S57/Ping blade types.

Thanks

Stiffer, higher kick point and heavier shafts will reduce spin with irons. Why do you want reduced spin, for distance. The Nippon will increase spin as will Dynamic Golf XP, Superlite etc. Dynamic Gold and DG Superlite, Project X will reduce spin.

Hi,
Slight typo on my last post, meant to say Nippon 1150 shafts.

I had Ping s58 0.5" longer than standard with a D2 swingweight with Ping ZZ Lite shaft in stiff. Now gone to MP62 Black Nickel.

Very happy with new irons and flight and distance control is much better.
