The Course is 7700yards long is that too long for Luke?

His swing looks great here;

I think he has a chance. His performance at Turnberry demonstrates his ability to play well in the majors.

Although he will be up against it as he is not the longest hitter but if he keeps it on the fairway he could do well. Would be good to see Mizuno get some coverage for winning a major.

I don't think it will be very low scoring - the record was 66 on round Hazeltine before they added another several hundred yards to it.

Personally I can't look past Tiger. But would be good to see Luke up there.

Luke always has a chance because he has arguably the most beautiful swing in the game - however, IMHO Luke's problems stem from not having a killer instinct or winning mentality!!

He has the goods in his swing but not as much in his head. I'd love to see him hook up with someone like Bob Rotella, and then we would see some fireworks!!

At 66-1 got to be worth a few quid...

I have Westy at 33-1 at the Open and would have won enought for 2 sets of MP 62 in Black nickel if he had not managed to make a complete a*se of 3/4 last holes.

Think I will be on Westy again this week with a loyal £ or 2 on LD.

The course will not play 7700 yards. That length is to allow flexible teeing positions.

Of course he has a shot, especially after a good Open.

Seem to remember that in an article by him in a local Golf Rag a couple of months ago he stated that he was having issues with his driver and until he gets that sorted his expectations are not to high.
Lets hope they are now sorted

Luke has never seemed comfortable with the driver. He ditched his Titliest for the MP600 when it came out and lasted only a couple of months then bagged the Titliest again.

Hopefully, he'll get it sorted soon and put himself and Mizuno on the podium again!!

3 late birdies for -1. T17
I think that's a decent effort.
If he shoots a couple under today he'll be right in this going into the weekend.

Video on GolfWeek with Luke in practice. He's played well there before as an amateur. Makes a good case why the length won't put him out of the reckoning.
