This is my first adjustable hybrid.

Got the 19 degree and plan to play it as 18 degree.

Spec:
19 degree
Length: standard 40.5 inch
Shaft: Speeder 95 HB in X-stiff

The 95 gram shaft is not that heavy when you take into account my next club - 4 hybrid - has a 130g C-taper steel shaft.

Did a session on a SkyTrak launch monitor.

I've compared it to my existing 19 degree hybrid:
JPX EZ
19 degree
Length: standard (40.25 inch at the time)
Shaft: KBS Hybrid steel, 110g X-stiff

I used a Callaway Hex Chrome ball.
Until this week, I have not hit a ball since last August, so I'm out of practise a bit.
I discarded all my rubbish shots to not skew the results too much.

Results - these are the averages:

CLK:
Launch: 15.4 degree
Back spin: 3277 rpm
Side spin: -744 rpm (draw)
Carry: 209.6 yards
Total: 223.4 yards

EZ:
Launch: 15.5 degree
Back spin: 4024 rpm
Side spin: -666 rpm (draw)
Carry: 197.8 yards
Total: 210.0 yards

Spin is much lower than the EZ - very similar to when I tested it at 19 degree.
I find the ball goes further on a real course than SkyTrak .
I reckon it will go 230 yards on the course which is pretty much what I wanted.
Very pleased with it so far.

This is a question, not a criticism: Should I want a hybrid to be low spin?

It seems like many of the situations I'd pull out a hybrid, the target is a green and I'd like to control how far the ball rolls. That's different than my driver where distance is the whole point. If I'm playing a par 5 where I can't target the green, chances are good I'm going to hit something more like a 5-6 iron and position myself for a pitching wedge anyway...

I guess I can see this being very different for senior golfers that might have lost much of their distance over the years. For me, I'm thinking that my driver and maybe a 3-wood may be the only clubs in my bag that I want to be low spin. The rest... the more spin the better.

I'd love to hear other thoughts. To be honest I haven't thought it all the way through, so maybe my thinking is off.

I’m with Kgrove on this. The only clubs I want to be lower spin are driver and 3 wood. I’d like the others all to stop on a dime. With a hybrid I like higher launch and plenty of spin for stopping power into par 5s or long par 4s

I want to hear more about your 4 hybrid with the C-Taper shaft. Is the shaft normal 4 iron length? How does it play for you? Also, how is the KBS hybrid shaft?

It's a real pity you never really get to test such combinations outside of the JPX Fli-Hi 6 hybrid but a 6 hybrid doesn't tell much.

Depends which golf courses you play.
For me, this hybrid will be used to tee off on quite a few par 4s.
So it's pretty much perfect for me.

As somebody who suffers from a hook, less spin the better.
Obviously too little spin means the ball falls out of the sky too soon.

Model is: JPX Fli-Hi.
Got 4 and 5 hybrid with C-Taper 130g shaft, same as my irons and wedges.
Much more forgiving than H4 or H5 for me.

The head takes .355 shafts, so the shaft is the same as my irons.
Think they are normal 4 and 5 length, cannot remember.

This hybrid is not listed anymore on Mizunos site anymore. Pity because it is one of the best clubs they have ever made.
Ugly as héll but truly excellent to play.

Yeah, maybe I should've ordered one just for the heck of it and see how it works out but I never did. Too late now unless I wanted to buy used and assemble one myself.
