Hi folks,

A friend of mine bought some JPX 900 Tour heads on an auction site.
The serial number is: 190318 C
They seem very light. Around 12-14g lighter than comparable heads.
Could someone here give me the specs of the clubs they were pulled from ?
I suppose the clubs were overlength and the heads are lighter heads to adjust swingweight.
Do Mizuno have 2 set of heads (one heavier for standard builds and one lighter for overlength builds) ?
If so, were is the weight removed from ?
Thanks a lot for your help,
Regards,
Arnaud

Hello ... I'd be very surprised if Mizuno (or anyone) will be able to give you the original spec of the clubs the heads were fitted to? - The etched number is just the date they were processed, with the "C" indicating Cumbernauld (Mizuno's factory in Scotland) - The lighter heads are as you surmised, a lighter head used in longer builds - As to where the weight is removed, surely the whole head would just be manufactured lighter, rather than removing weight from a normal head? - If the heads were to be used in a standard length club, I would have thought that tip weights could be fitted in the shafts, to get the swing weight in the right ball-park for use?

Thanks for your answer.
I talked to the French Mizuno division and they told me the heads were the same dimensions wise.
They said that the standard weight head was basically a lighter weight head where they added weight (supposed in the hosel as if there was a chamber inside which is then filled).
Could someone comment on this ?
Thanks guys.

TOTALLY wrong. We have 2 different forging moulds - one each for both weight of heads. So the geometry is also ever so slightly different. Not sure the human eye can see it.

Wow thank you for your insightful help !
So if I were to play these light heads with 12g added to the tip end of the shaft (lead tip weight) they won’t play as the standard weghted heads, right ?
Thanks for your help

Correct. Weight location would be very different.

Hi,
Last question, I see a lot of sets with a serial number engraved on the shaft, below the grip. They seem to be build in China.
Is it common practice for of the rack iron sets ? (I saw that on a lot of JPX 900 Tour shafted with DG AMT iron sets).
Thanks again for your help and time

Hello to the board. This is my first post here in this forum. Glad to be back with Mizuno irons.

I checked my serial number on my JPX900 Tour irons. It doesn't have any letter designation. It is 4930612. What does this signify (where the irons originated from, date, or any information). Thanks in advance.
